Multi-generational family farm raising pasture-raised beef, pork, poultry, lamb, and eggs in Marengo, IL.
Hasselmann Family Farm is a diversified family farm in Marengo, Illinois with more than a century of farming history, tracing its roots to an 80-acre vegetable operation in Des Plaines in the 1890s. Owner and operator Scott Hasselmann incorporated the current livestock venture in 2005 and relocated to the Marengo farm in 2010, converting it into a diversified crop and livestock operation. The farm raises beef, Berkshire pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, and eggs, and also offers grass-fed dairy products including milk, kefir, and yogurt. Whole and half animal shares are available for beef and pork. Scott holds a Master's degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University and a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Western Illinois University. Learn more on their About Page.
Hasselmann Family Farm raises its animals on pasture and lists its standards as pasture-raised, no added hormones, and no antibiotics. Beef is offered in two finishing styles: 100% grass-fed, or pasture-raised and grain-finished. Grain-finished beef is dry-aged and custom-cut at Eickman's processing. The farm uses a regenerative approach to farming and converted half of its 80-acre Marengo property into permanent perennial pasture for grazing. Pork is Berkshire breed and the farm practices pasture farrowing. The farm also carries grass-fed milk and a2a2 kefir and yogurt, as well as grass-fed raw milk cheese.
