Four-generation family apiary producing raw honey, beeswax, pollen, and natural honey products from the Treasure Coast.
Gruwell Apiary is a family-owned and operated beekeeping business based in Fort Pierce, Florida, with roots going back to 1956 and four generations of beekeepers. The apiary produces raw honey, beeswax, bee pollen, creamed honey, and a line of natural honey-based body products including soaps, lotions, shampoo, and conditioner. Gruwell does not purchase pre-packaged honey; every product comes directly from the family's own hives and is processed by the family themselves. The apiary sells its products at the Downtown Fort Pierce Farmers' Market every Saturday morning. Learn more on their About Page.
Gruwell Apiary's raw honey is unheated, unfiltered, and contains no added sugar water or corn syrup. The family's hives are placed in orange groves, ranches, woodlands, and mangrove marshes across St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties. Because hive location and seasonal bloom shape each honey's flavor, the apiary offers varieties tied to specific floral sources including Orange Blossom, Saw Palmetto, Wild Flower, Gallberry, Brazilian Pepper, Eucalyptus, and Cabbage Palm, among others. Creamed honey is available in Orange Blossom, Saw Palmetto, and Wild Flower nectars.
