White Rabbit Acres is a 30-acre family-owned and operated certified organic farm that has been farming in Vero Beach, Florida since 1999. Its primary crop is certified organic turmeric root, offered in bulk at wholesale pricing as well as in smaller quantities for direct purchase. The farm grows multiple turmeric varieties, including its own seed-saved strain it calls the White Rabbit Giant, developed by selecting the largest rhizomes over successive seasons. White Rabbit Acres holds organic certification through Americert International. The farm applies organic nutritional amendments to both the foliage and the soil throughout the growing season. Turmeric is planted by hand in individual holes, and weeding is done by hand around each plant. Drip irrigation is used during the growing season. After a machine lifts the plants, each is picked up, washed, and sorted by hand; turmeric is then dried on racks, graded, and packed by hand on-site. The farm practices its own seed saving, selecting the largest rhizomes each season to develop its planting stock. Its turmeric has been independently tested at a laboratory for heavy metal content.
