Member-owned co-op grocery with a deli, bulk foods, and locally sourced produce
Green Top Grocery is a cooperatively owned grocery store serving the Bloomington-Normal area. It is governed by an elected Board of Directors made up of nine owner-members who serve on a volunteer basis. The store carries produce, grocery staples, deli items, cheese, dairy, beer and wine, wellness products, and a bulk department. The deli serves scratch-made sandwiches, soups, and salads, with a soup and salad bar available for eat-in or carry-out. Green Top Grocery also runs a Teaching Kitchen, a Co-op Explorers program, and a Link Match program. Anyone can shop; becoming an owner gives additional benefits and a vote in store governance. Learn more on their About Page.
Green Top Grocery stocks locally-grown and organic produce, with an emphasis on local options during the peak growing season. The deli kitchen uses local and organic ingredients whenever possible. The cheese department carries locally sourced varieties alongside a selection of alternative cheeses. The dairy case includes local and organic milk options as well as plant-based milk alternatives. The bulk department sells staples such as flour, rice, beans, sugar, pasta, oats, and nuts by weight, and shoppers may bring their own containers to reduce packaging waste. The store maintains a dedicated local producers list featuring growers and makers from across Illinois, spanning categories including meat, eggs, produce, dairy, flour and grains, honey, coffee, beer and wine, and more. The beer, wine, and liquor department focuses on organic, natural, sustainably produced, and vegan wines.
