Regenerative farm raising hair sheep and offering consulting for producers in sustainable agriculture.
Green Fields Farm is operated by Jonathan and Kaylyn Cobb on land in Rogers, Texas that Jonathan's family has farmed for over 100 years. His great-grandfather first worked the land as a sharecropper. After years of conventional monoculture row cropping, the Cobbs returned to the farm, and in 2013 formed Green Fields Farm to begin a transition toward regenerative practices. The farm raises a hair sheep flock, primarily Katahdin with some Dorper and Florida Native breeds, selling animals as breeding stock and grass-finishing some for the family. Green Fields Farm also offers consulting to other producers on regenerative agriculture methods. Learn more on their About Page.
Green Fields Farm manages its hair sheep flock without wormers, hormones, or antibiotics. The sheep lamb on pasture with minimal intervention, and the Cobbs selectively cull to develop a low-maintenance flock suited to thrive on pasture. The farm practices adaptive multi-paddock (AMP) grazing and has experience using cover crops in row cropping systems and as a transition tool to convert row crop ground into perennial pasture. Jonathan Cobb also works as an independent sales representative with Green Cover, helping customers improve soil health through custom cover crop mixes.
