Gopher Glen Apple Farm is a family-owned apple farm and farm stand that has operated for over forty years on See Canyon Road in the hills of Avila Valley. The farm was founded by Dr. John DeVincenzo, who developed unique apple varieties through grafting, including the Heaven Sent apple. Current owners Jake and Raven Smith grew up in the farming family and now manage day-to-day operations and ownership. The farm stand offers a wide variety of apples, baked goods, and fresh produce each season. In 2016, Jake and Raven partnered with family members to launch Gopher Glen Cider Co., producing hard ciders from the farm's own apples. Wholesale purchasing is also available. Gopher Glen Apple Farm describes its apples as organically grown, and Gopher Glen Cider Co. states a commitment to sustainable farming practices and organic apples. The hard ciders are made from hand-picked heirloom apple varietals, fermented in stainless steel with no oak, and lightly filtered. Cider expressions include blends of 5 to 15 heirloom apple varietals, and one variety is co-fermented with passionfruit while another is double-hopped.
