Overview
Farm store and seasonal harvest market connected to the Golden Door resort, offering produce, eggs, honey, preserves, and freshly baked bread.
Golden Door Country Store is the farm stand and online shop of Golden Door Farms, rooted in the hills of San Marcos. After introducing biointensive farming methods to its kitchen garden and groves, the farm found itself with a harvest beyond its own needs and opened the store to share that bounty with the wider public. The in-store harvest rotates seasonally and includes citrus, greens, tomatoes, herbs, and much more. Alongside its own produce, the store sells Golden Door eggs, wildflower honey, fruit preserves, marmalades, pantry goods, and chocolates. Freshly baked bread from both the Golden Door kitchen and a rotating roster of local bakers is available in the store throughout the week. The store also carries a wellness collection and hosts events with a vendor application open to outside makers. Learn more on their About Page.
Golden Door Country Store grows its produce using biointensive farming methods and uses no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, relying instead on natural enrichment to keep its land productive. The farm describes its approach as biodynamic and aims to create a diversified, balanced agricultural ecosystem. Developed water sources feed the groves, and soil is prepared with natural nutrient sources. The farm's jams and marmalades contain no chemical preservatives or artificial sweeteners and are described as non-GMO, all natural, organic, vegan, and gluten- and soy-free. Golden Door wildflower honey is produced by bees that collect nectar from the farm's orange groves and local wildflower gardens. The store also strives to support San Diego organic farms and local artisans whenever possible. A 2,000-acre parcel in the Merriman Mountains, purchased in 2023, is preserved as raw open space and wildlife habitat in perpetuity as part of the farm's conservation commitment.
