J.R. Organics is a fourth-generation family farm in Escondido, California, certified organic since 1986 by both CCOF and the USDA. The Rodriguez family has farmed the land for more than 120 combined years, growing over 100 varieties across more than 50 crops year-round. Members can receive weekly or bi-weekly CSA farm boxes in Farmer's Choice or Custom configurations, with pickup available at farmers markets and drop sites across San Diego, Orange, and Riverside Counties, as well as home delivery within much of San Diego County. The farm also sells produce through an online shop and attends numerous farmers markets throughout Southern California. Group farm tours are available by appointment.
J.R. Organics holds CCOF and USDA certified organic status, a certification it has maintained since 1986. The farm starts all crops from seed in its own on-site nursery, giving it direct control over plant health from the beginning. Soil fertility is maintained through a homemade compost program and crop rotation rather than synthetic inputs. Weed control is handled mechanically with tractors where terrain allows and by hand in hillier areas, without the use of herbicides. Pest management relies on beneficial insects such as ladybugs and lacewings. The farm states that all produce is GMO-free.
