Gold Ridge Organic Farms is an 88-acre certified organic working farm founded in 2000 by Brooke Hazen on the rolling ridgetops of Sebastopol. The farm grows 70 acres of olive trees, 16 acres of heirloom and commercial apple varieties, and groves of citrus including Meyer lemons, Mandarin-kumquats, and Satsuma mandarins. Olives are harvested and milled on-site into four California extra virgin olive oil blends, as well as a line of citrus-infused olive oils. Apples are sold fresh and also pressed into apple cider, apple cider vinegar, pear-apple cider vinegar, and apple balsamic vinegar. The farm operates a Farm Shop and Tasting Salon, offers guided orchard walks, hosts seasonal events, and provides custom olive milling services for outside growers.
Gold Ridge Organic Farms' olive, apple, and citrus orchards and its estate mill are Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth (OTCO). All four olive oil blends are certified Extra Virgin annually by the California Olive Oil Council (COOC). The farm runs a closed-loop system in which olive pomace and olive water from the mill are recycled back into the orchards as soil amendments. Carbon sequestration practices are implemented to build soil health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The property's 88 acres are designated as an agricultural conservation easement and held under the Williamson Act as agricultural preserve and open space. Drip irrigation targets root zones to minimize water waste, and a wind turbine on the property contributes to the clean energy grid. The farm uses electric and battery-powered equipment, including Monarch electric tractors, and prioritizes recyclable glass and tin packaging while minimizing plastic use.
