Green Star Farm is a 50-acre pasture-based livestock farm in West Sonoma County. It produces pastured pork, grass-fed lamb, and goat year-round, selling through an online store with farm share subscriptions. Farmer Sarah has led diverse agriculture since 2008, drawing on a science background and an early career with Sonoma State University before beginning full-time ranching in 2011. She was awarded CAFF's 2023 Climate Smart Farmer of the Year. Green Star Farm practices intensive rotational grazing to support the soil microbiome. Sheep and goats are 100% grass-fed, grazing rotationally on pasture and supplemented with hay grown on the farm, with no grain or additives. Hogs receive a diverse diet that includes fresh produce, organic bread, and a corn- and soy-free, non-GMO grain blend produced by local feed mill BarAle. All animals are raised on diets that follow organic standards. Feed choices are guided by considerations of animal welfare, soil health, and environmental resilience.
