Family-run Iowa farm selling pasture-raised beef and pork direct to customers
Established in 1899, Gibralter Farms sits in Hardin County in North Central Iowa, straddling the south fork of the Iowa River. The farm has been operated across generations of the Gilbert family, with John and Sarah Gilbert returning to farm full-time in 2014. The operation includes beef cattle, dairy cattle, and pigs, alongside diverse crop rotations of corn, soybeans, oats, hay, and pasture. Gibralter Farms sells its beef and pork direct to customers through its own online shop, offering cuts, bundles, snack items, and cooking fats. It also plans to offer products from partner farms that share its values. Learn more on their About Page.
Gibralter Farms raises beef cattle and pigs on pasture as part of a mixed-crop operation that rotates corn, soybeans, oats, hay, and pasture ground. The farm has been recognized by Practical Farmers of Iowa with its Sustainable Achievement Award and by Niman Ranch with a Farmer of the Year Award. Products available include cuts such as steaks, roasts, pork chops, and ground meats, as well as processed items including bacon, sausages, bratwursts, summer sausage, beef jerky, snack sticks, and rendered fats such as beef tallow and pork lard.
