Raw Ayrshire cow milk and farmstead lye soap from a small family farm.
Faye Farms is a small family farm in Udall, Kansas, owned and operated by Mark and Heather Faye. The farm describes itself as old-fashioned, recalling the kind of mixed operation many families kept a generation ago. Its two main product lines are raw Ayrshire cow milk and a wide range of cold-processed farmstead lye soaps. Raw milk is available by appointment at the farm, and the soaps are sold directly from the farm, through select Wichita and Newton retailers, and online. Soap varieties number in the dozens, ranging from Lavender and Oatmeal Milk and Honey to Chisholm Trail and Dragon's Blood.
Faye Farms milks a herd of Ayrshire cows, and all of its lye soaps are made with milk from that same herd. The soaps are cold-processed in small batches. The farm uses sustainably grown, farm-raised, and local ingredients in its soap production. Animals on the farm are raised outdoors to access grass, fresh air, and sunshine, with shelter provided for inclement weather. The farm favors heritage breeds, including Ayrshire cattle and Hereford pigs.
