Every head of cattle is born and raised on the ranch's own pasture, with the Dicks present from birth through processing. The ranch sells beef direct to families as individual cuts, bundles, bulk orders, and a monthly meat subscription. Diamond D Ranch raises cattle on pasture that is never sprayed with pesticides or chemicals. The ranch does not hold organic certification but states that its practices follow organic principles. Once weaned, cattle have free-choice access to non-GMO grain while remaining on grass; in fall and winter the herd is fed organic hay. The ranch uses no antibiotics, hormones, or vaccines, relying instead on homeopathy and low-stress handling to maintain herd health. After slaughter at a local USDA-inspected processor, beef is dry-aged up to 28 days (ground beef and burger patties are aged 21 days), then vacuum-sealed and flash frozen.
