A fourth-generation Grade A dairy farm selling batch-pasteurized, cream-line milk and ice cream.
Blue Ribbon Dairy is a family-owned Grade A dairy farm in Elmore County, operating on land the family has worked for more than 70 years. Fourth-generation farmer Michaela Sanders opened the dairy in November 2017, milking her herd in the same barn her great-grandfather built in the mid-1940s. The farm handles every step on site: milking, pasteurizing, bottling, and selling. Blue Ribbon Dairy sells its milk in local grocery stores, at farmers markets throughout the River Region, and directly from its on-farm store. The dairy also sells pints and half-pints of ice cream made from its own milk. Visitors are welcome to tour the farm, watch afternoon milkings, and bottle-feed calves.
Blue Ribbon Dairy is a licensed Grade A dairy and describes itself as the only Grade A dairy in the tri-county area offering batch pasteurization. Its milk is pasteurized but not homogenized, meaning the cream rises to the top of the bottle. Processing and bottling take place on the farm. In addition to whole milk and chocolate milk, the dairy periodically offers seasonal flavored milk varieties.
