Codman Community Farms raises its cattle as 100% grass-fed Red Devon and its pigs, laying hens, meat chickens, turkeys, and lambs as pasture-raised livestock. The market garden uses organic and low-tillage methods, including a permanent-bed, low-tillage system. The farm's broader model emphasizes diversity as a foundation for resilience, and it uses regenerative farming methods aimed at building diverse ecosystems and healthy soil. Sustainability extends to the farm's infrastructure: solar electric and hot water panels are installed on barn roofs, electric mowers and equipment are used by staff, and efficient heat pumps provide heating and cooling across buildings. The farm also manages over 150 additional acres throughout Lincoln and at Minuteman National Historical Park in partnership with local conservation bodies.
