Pasture-raised Katahdin lamb and Aberdeen Angus beef from a three-generation family farm.
Caveny Farm is a family-owned farm located just north of Monticello, Illinois, founded by John and Connie Caveny in 1987. The farm focuses on pasture-raised Katahdin lamb and American Aberdeen Angus beef. Three generations now work the land, with the farm currently transitioning to the Cavenys' daughter, Betsy Barnick, and her family. Katahdin lamb is available in a wide range of cuts, including leg roasts, rack roasts, loin chops, shanks, shoulder steaks, and spare ribs. Aberdeen Angus beef is sold by the whole, half, or quarter. Breeds were selected specifically for their ability to thrive on pasture and for the quality of their meat.
All animals at Caveny Farm are pasture-raised and receive no hormones or antibiotics. Each animal is fed a custom-formulated feed designed to complement the nutrients found in the farm's pastures. Katahdin sheep are a hair-sheep breed that do not require shearing; they naturally shed their winter coat. Aberdeen Angus cattle are raised on pasture at the farm and processed locally. Orders can be picked up directly at the farm or shipped.
