Castle Rock Ranch

Castle Rock Ranch raises cattle on regeneratively managed pastures and never feeds grain. Premium Grass Finished animals receive only grass, sea kelp, and salt from birth to harvest. The ranch does not use antibiotics or growth hormones, and pastures are never treated with herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. Cattle are moved at least once a day using electric fencing to mimic the pulsed grazing patterns of wild herds, giving each paddock a long rest period before the next graze. Manure provides the primary fertilizer, supplemented at times with compost and foliar sprays derived from ground-up salmon, shrimp, and crab. Any animal that requires antibiotic treatment is culled from the beef herd. The ranch actively works to protect the Coeur d'Alene River watershed through these land management practices.
