Certified organic vegetable farm offering a CSA, microgreens, and a food hub for Central and Eastern Iowa.
Camp Creek Organic Produce is a certified organic farm on 40 acres in Kalona, Iowa, growing and distributing diversified vegetables across Central and Eastern Iowa. The farm operates a CSA program called Rainbow Roots, a microgreens line called Organic Greens grown in a soil-based system, and a Food Hub through which businesses can order local produce for delivery. Camp Creek also grows pet grass and participates in the USDA-funded Local Food for Schools program, processing and distributing fresh vegetables to school districts around Iowa. Camp Creek holds Certified Organic certification through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, and uses no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. The farm applies compost and local animal manure to its fields each fall to build soil health. Reduced tillage practices are used to limit soil disturbance and keep carbon sequestered in the ground. Crop rotation is followed each season, pairing heavy soil feeders with light soil feeders to support soil recovery. The farm pursues year-round production and connects the broader public to its growing practices through tours, field trips, and presentations. Farmers are paid a livable wage with bonuses tied to farm performance.
