Organic-practice vegetable farm offering a weekly summer CSA share, nine miles north of Iowa City.
Wild Woods Farm is a sustainable vegetable farm in rural Solon run by Farmer Kate, who has been growing produce for the Iowa City area since 2010. The farm offers a summer CSA (community-supported agriculture) subscription that runs for 12 weeks, from early June through early September. Each week, members receive a box of 10 to 15 seasonally varied vegetables, harvested the same day as pickup. Over the course of a season, members are exposed to 30 different types of vegetables and more than 150 varieties. Pickup takes place on Thursday evenings at the farm in a buffet-style format, letting members walk through and select their own produce. Recipes are provided to help members make use of each week's share.
Wild Woods Farm grows its vegetables following organic practices. Produce is harvested by Farmer Kate and her crew on the same day it is distributed to CSA members. As the season progresses, the farm adds a bulk veggie option for items that are in abundant supply. Members are welcome to tour the farm and take part in volunteer days in the field.
