Fourth-generation family butcher shop specializing in custom meat processing, retail cuts, wild game, and house-made sausages and jerky.
Bud's Custom Meats is a family-owned butcher shop founded in 1975 by Lloyd "Bud" Gamba, whose family's butchering tradition traces back several generations to Italy. Current owner Matt Gamba, a fourth-generation meat cutter, took over in 1997 and has since expanded the shop's retail offerings and processing capabilities. The shop offers custom livestock processing, wild game processing, and a retail counter stocked with beef, pork, lamb, poultry, exotic meats, and house-made sausages, jerky, and marinated products. All meat products are prepared and smoked on the premises. Bud's also carries pet food and raw-base dog treats made from all-beef ingredients. Learn more on their About Page.
Beef at Bud's Custom Meats comes from cattle raised on pastures of locally owned farms and ranches in Sonoma, Marin, Mendocino, and Lake Counties. Animals are free of antibiotics and growth hormones, 100% grass-fed in season, and finished with locally grown, pesticide-free grains. Ground beef is 100% pure USDA chuck with no additives. Pork is pasture-raised on locally owned farms, with no preservatives, water injections, antibiotics, growth hormones, or nitrates. Animals eat spent grain from local breweries, plus vegetables, roots, and area milk. Lamb is pasture-raised and grain-finished, with 100% grass-fed lamb in summer. All lamb is antibiotic and hormone free. Poultry is raised on open pastures of locally owned farms and ranches, free of antibiotics and growth hormones. Sausages are hand-made with no fillers and organic spices; several varieties are gluten-free. Jerky has no nitrates or nitrites and is dried in wood-burning smokehouses.
