BuckleDown Farm is a small family farm in Francestown, New Hampshire raising 100% grass-fed beef. The farm purchased its property in 2015, spending five years rebuilding before beginning to sell beef. It raises Galloway cattle, a heritage breed that originated in Scotland and is well suited to New England weather. Beef is sold as whole, half, and quarter shares, priced per pound based on the hot hanging weight of the animal. Customers place an order, pay a deposit to reserve a spot, and pick up their vacuum-sealed, frozen beef directly from the farm once processing is complete.
BuckleDown Farm raises Galloway cattle on open pastures with access to ponds for fresh water. The cows are grass-fed for their entire lives. The farm states it does not use grain fillers, antibiotics, or GMOs. Each animal receives individual attention given the farm's small scale. The farm describes its approach as being good stewards of the land and its animals.
