Conservation farm offering a CSA, heritage preservation orchard, farm store, and educational programs on 4,000+ acres.
Branch Hill Farm is a conservation farm and 501(c)(3) charitable trust spanning more than 4,000 acres of forever-conserved fields and forests in Milton Mills, New Hampshire. Its roots trace to a 1786 farmhouse and a family tradition of stewardship stretching across generations. The farm runs a seasonal vegetable CSA grown by teen apprentices (ages 15-18) through its Paid Teen Apprenticeship Program. A Preservation Orchard serves as a living museum of rare and heritage apple varieties sourced from across New England and beyond. The on-farm Stall Shoppe is open from mid-May through October. The vegetable CSA and Preservation Orchard are both Certified Naturally Grown. The gardens use no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and follow no-till practices with organic inputs only, allowing soil life to thrive. The farm makes some of its own compost and sources supplemental compost locally. Regenerative practices are an active focus, including planting edible perennials and pollinator-friendly plants and working to reduce food waste and plastic use. The Preservation Orchard is described as holistically managed; many of its 90-plus heritage apple trees were cloned from old specimens still surviving in backyards and fields across New England. Egg and meat add-ons available through the CSA come from partner farms raising pastured hens and pasture-raised chicken, duck, pork, and beef. The CSA accepts SNAP/EBT.
