Family farm growing fresh produce, with a seasonal pumpkin patch and farm box pickup.
Bode's Moonlight Gardens is a family farm located just north of Algona in Kossuth County, Iowa, co-owned and operated by Beany Bode and Joanne Roepke Bode. The farm has been in operation since 2003 and has been building its garden business for more than 20 years. It raises fresh produce and sells at the Kossuth County Farmers Market on both Wednesdays and Saturdays during the growing season. Farm boxes packed with seasonal garden items are offered for pickup when extra produce is available, with availability announced by email newsletter and social media. Each fall, the farm opens for pick-your-own pumpkins, gourds, and squash. The farm's stated aims include providing food for the broader area, preserving the soil, and supporting local agriculture education. Learn more on their About Page.
Bode's Moonlight Gardens grows its own produce on the farm and describes its food as locally grown. Farm boxes are assembled from items grown on the property and picked for freshness. The farm's stated goals include preserving the soil and the surrounding rural environment. At the farmers market, the farm accepts Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers in addition to cash and checks.
