Family farm raising grass-fed, barley-finished beef, pastured pork, and poultry for Alberta families.
Blue Ridge Farms is a family-run operation raising beef cattle, pork, chickens, and turkeys with multi-generational farming roots. The farm is owned and operated by Brett and Jillian Byers, who set out to produce home-raised meats with full transparency from field to fork. Beef is available as ground beef boxes (20 lb and 50 lb) and as quarter, half, or whole bulk beef. The farm sells direct to customers, with pickup available at its provincially inspected butcher and refrigerated home delivery across Alberta. Learn more on their About Page.
Blue Ridge Farms raises its beef on a grass-fed diet with a barley finish, and applies a dry-aging process to develop tenderness and flavour. Poultry are raised on pasture with space to move freely, and specific breeds are selected for eating quality. All animals are raised without the addition of hormones or antibiotics, and no animal by-products are used in feed. The farm is certified under the Verified Beef Production program and with McDonald's Canada. As members of the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency and the Premises Identification Program, cattle and swine are tracked from birth to butchering using RFID ear tags, and all animals are processed at a local, provincially inspected facility. Handling systems are designed to mimic natural animal movement to keep stock relaxed. The farm uses a pasture rotation system to support land regeneration, relying on grazing and natural fertilization to improve soil health and increase carbon sequestration.
