CCOF-certified organic farm offering fresh produce, cut flowers, heirloom dry beans, U-pick, and a weekend farmstand.
Blue House Farm is a CCOF-certified organic farm operating across two properties in Pescadero and San Gregorio, CA. First-generation farmer Ryan Casey launched the operation after completing an internship with the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at UC Santa Cruz. In 2005, the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) awarded the farm a lease on land in Pescadero, and it has since grown to steward a historic 74-acre ranch in San Gregorio. The farm grows vegetables, fruit, and cut flowers across roughly 120 acres, sells at farmers markets, and runs a weekend Farmstand and seasonal U-pick programs for strawberries and pumpkins. It also grows more than 30 varieties of heirloom dry beans, available for purchase online. Learn more on their About Page.
Blue House Farm holds CCOF organic certification across its operations. The farm works across two distinct microclimates: cool, foggy conditions at the San Gregorio ranch suit brassicas, lettuces, strawberries, and artichokes, while the warmer, sunnier Pescadero property supports tomatoes, summer squash, and sweet potatoes. This split-location approach allows the farm to grow a wide variety of crops year-round. The San Gregorio ranch includes a redwood timber-frame barn raised in 2019 with support from POST, which now serves as the hub for the Farmstand and seasonal programs. POST land partnerships also support on-site housing for most year-round farmworkers.
