Back 4T Farms is a certified organic ranch in central Texas run by the Turnbough family. The farm got its start in 2012 and raises grass-fed and finished beef, pastured pork, pasture-raised chicken, and eggs. All animals are born and raised on the ranch; the farm does not source meat from outside vendors or purchase animals to feed out. Products are sold through an on-farm General Store, online shipping, and wholesale. Full traceability is a core part of the operation: because every animal is raised from birth on the farm, the Turnboughs can trace any cut back to the specific animal or batch it came from.
Back 4T Farms holds certified organic status and describes its approach as going beyond organic through regenerative land management. Beef cattle graze on certified organic pastures and are 100% grass-fed and finished, receiving no grain at any stage. Pastured pigs and chickens are supplemented with a corn-free, soy-free certified organic feed and are encouraged to browse the farm's organic pastures for the bulk of their nutrition. No antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, GMOs, or synthetic dewormers are used. For soil health, the farm rotates chickens behind pigs, runs goats alongside cattle to reduce parasite load and manage brush, and rotates pastures frequently. On-farm chicken processing is air-chilled; no chemicals are used in that process.
