Working Cows Dairy

Working Cows Dairy has held USDA certified organic status since November 2009, following a three-year transition period that began in 2006. The farm eliminated all chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides from its fields as part of that transition, and its pastures are planted with select grass varieties chosen for nutritional value. After two years as a certified organic dairy, the farm shifted to a grass-fed-only model, feeding no grain to its herd. Cows graze open pasture, and their mineral needs are supplemented with organic kelp, sea 90, and diatomaceous earth. The farm is also certified Grassfed by A Greener World (AGW) and carries Animal Welfare Approved certification. All milk used in its cheeses and butter is produced on the farm itself.
