Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm is a 300-acre, family-owned and operated estate in Tattnall County, Georgia, carrying six generations of agricultural heritage dating to the 1850s. Growers Tracy and Curtis Poling oversee the entire process, from pruning and hand-harvesting to pressing and bottling on the farm. The grove was first planted with 6,000 olive trees in 2015 and has since grown to over 10,000 trees, including Arbequina, Italian Lucca, and the rare French Salonenque variety. The farm produces a certified extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) with an average free fatty acid level of 0.06% and a polyphenol content of approximately 408. Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm has earned a Silver Award at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition and a UGA Flavor of Georgia Award. Farm tours are offered on-site. Learn more on their About Page.
Woodpecker Trail Olive Farm is 100% U.S. estate-grown and bottled, with no imported oil in its products. Olives are hand-harvested and rushed to the mill for cold pressing within hours of harvest to limit oxidation. The farm applies no heavy synthetic inputs and focuses on soil health and water conservation, with an emphasis on wildlife habitat protection. Finished oil is stored in nitrogen-flushed, temperature-controlled tanks and bottles are nitrogen-capped to protect against light, heat, and oxygen. Every bottle carries a harvest date and a best-by date. The oil is certified Extra Virgin through third-party chemical and sensory analysis using the Applied Sensory certification seal, which requires meeting OOCC/CDFA standards. The farm's EVOO analysis shows Non-GMO, all-natural, no additives, and gluten-free status. Labor practices are family-operated, with a stated commitment to fair wages and safe working conditions.
