Family farm and craft micro-brewery growing organic vegetables, herbs, and hops with an on-site taproom.
Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery is a small family farm and craft micro-brewery owned and operated by Nate and Penny Peterson on a 10-acre property in Northwest Illinois. The farm was established in 2009 and grows dozens of varieties of organic vegetables, herbs, fruits, and hops across several acres. The brewery opened in 2016 inside the farm's barn and produces small-batch beers on-site, some made with ingredients grown on the property. Farm produce is sold exclusively through a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) membership program, which runs for a 20-week season. The on-site taproom and bar is open to the public and offers draft pints, sampler flights, growler fills, and bottled beer to go. Learn more on their About Page.
All vegetables, herbs, and fruits at Wishful Acres Farm are grown following organic standards on the farm's own acreage. Crops include dozens of vegetable varieties, hops, herbs, and fruits such as mulberries, black raspberries, apples, and peaches. Some of these farm-grown ingredients, including pumpkins, hot peppers, basil, and fruits, are used directly in brewing the farm's beers. All beers are brewed in small batches on-site inside the barn. Farm produce is pre-sold entirely through the CSA membership program and is not available for sale to the general public outside of that program.
