Small-scale urban vegetable farm growing regeneratively-grown produce, available through a veg box program, farmers' market, and wholesale.
Wise Earth Farm is a small-scale, family-run urban vegetable farm in Kelowna, British Columbia, situated at the corner of K.L.O Road and Mission Creek. The farm was founded in 2011 by John Hofer and Brenda Paterson, and is now operated by Myles Ferber, Ariana Gagnon, Gabby Gagnon, and seasonal staff. Throughout the season, Wise Earth Farm grows a variety of greens, herbs, root vegetables, cool-weather crops, summer crops, and microgreens. Produce is available through an online store, a Seasonal Vegetable Box Program, restaurant and wholesale partnerships, and the Kelowna Farmers' Market. Learn more on their About Page.
Wise Earth Farm holds a Certified Naturally Grown certification and applies regenerative agriculture principles across its operation. It uses no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, or chemicals, and relies on gentle, human-scale tools to preserve soil structure. The farm keeps soil covered with primary crops, cover crops, or tarps, and maintains roots in the ground to support soil health. Organic crop material is cycled back into the soil, and each bed receives two nutritive inputs at every planting: mulch or compost, and organic granular chicken fertilizer. Tarps and solarization methods are used to accelerate organic decomposition, and netting serves as a physical barrier against insects and animals. Fields are irrigated with local creek water drawn from Mission Creek, located adjacent to the farm.
