First-generation farm raising pastured eggs, chicken, turkey, lamb, and beef in the North Thompson Valley.
KnowWhere Farms is a first-generation farm in the North Thompson region of BC, growing since 2014. It raises pastured eggs, chicken, turkey, lamb, and beef, and also produces wool yarn and fibre from its sheep flock. Eggs are sold by the dozen, whole chickens and turkeys are sold frozen by the pound, and lamb and beef are available whole, by the half, or by the quarter. The farm also offers a range of hand-spun yarn lines and Corriedale roving, with fibre products shippable to most locations. KnowWhere Farms uses regenerative farming ideas that aim to mimic natural processes and support the local landscape.
KnowWhere Farms raises its lambs on grass and hay, with no grain fed. The sheep flock moves daily onto fresh ground using electric fencing, a rotational grazing system the farm describes as promoting ecosystem repair. Broiler chickens are moved regularly across the pasture with portable electric net fencing during the snow-free season. Laying hens are moved to fresh ground every three to seven days and have the run of the farm's greenhouse in winter. Chickens are processed at Spring Valley Ranch in Pritchard, BC. Sheep are sheared annually; the best of the fleece goes into the farm's yarns and roving, and the remainder is used to build soil. All fibre processing is done by That Darn Yarn Mill in Kamloops, BC.
