High Croft Farm is an off-grid, fully sustainable operation on 88 acres in Notch Hill, Sorrento. The farm raises grass-fed and grass-finished beef, lamb, pastured chickens, ducks, and turkeys, along with free-range eggs, honey, and seasonal fruits, berries, and vegetables. Baked goods made from farm produce, including pies, cakes, and muffins, are also available. The farm is developing a Permaculture Food Forest featuring nut and fruit trees, berries, bee-friendly flowers, and nitrogen-fixing plants. Products are available at the farm gate and at seasonal farmers markets in Sorrento, Celista, and Salmon Arm.
High Croft Farm describes itself as a small, family-run operation using diversified and sustainable permanent agriculture principles, allowing it to care for each animal individually. Beef cattle graze freely across pasture and forested areas and are grass-fed and grass-finished. Lambs range from pasture to forested areas and eat primarily grass and wild forage. Chickens are raised in moveable pens on fresh pasture. Turkeys are free range and fed certified organic grains with no soya. All poultry grain feed is sourced from Canadian Organics. The farm states it uses no antibiotics, hormones, steroids, GMOs, pesticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilizers across its livestock. Livestock are processed at small, family-run, provincially inspected abattoirs.
