Warm Colors Apiary

Warm Colors Apiary specializes in Russian honeybees and has been a certified apiary of the Russian Honeybee Breeders Association (RHBA) since 2016. It is the only northeastern certified apiary of its kind recognized by the RHBA. The apiary's mission is developing and testing beekeeping methods that improve honeybee health through selective breeding, natural forage, and early detection and prevention of disease and pests. It emphasizes minimizing chemical use and relying on natural defenses and heritable behaviors that improve mite tolerance and disease resistance. Honey is minimally processed: it is kept below 100°F during bottling and clarified naturally rather than filtered, so particles rise to the surface and honey is bottled from the bottom of the tank. Warm Colors also provides pollination services to local orchards and farms. Owners Bonita and Dan Conlon practice sustainable land and apiary management to provide wildlife habitat and protect water resources.
