Women-run farm growing organic vegetables and fruits along the Connecticut River.
Riverland Farm is a 40-acre, women-run operation growing a diverse mix of vegetables and fruits on prime agricultural soil along the Connecticut River in the Pioneer Valley. The farm is managed by Emily Landeck and Meghan Arquin, who have run day-to-day operations together since 2016. The land has been in continuous agricultural use for hundreds of years. Riverland Farm serves a range of wholesale accounts, co-op CSA customers, and local producers. In 2020, Emily purchased the farm from the previous managers, who had guided it since 2007.
Riverland Farm crops fields across two towns, with the main farm located just south of Sunderland Center. The farm uses only organic-approved inputs and sustainable growing practices, with an emphasis on healthy land, good food, and worker safety. The fertile soil was deposited by glacial Lake Hitchcock and has supported agriculture for hundreds of years, a history the farm acknowledges as part of its approach to land stewardship.
