Family-run certified organic avocado and fruit farm on California's Central Coast
Traceland Organics is a family-run, 80-acre ranch on the Central California Coast, founded by Ron and Gail Trace after they relocated from the Chicago area in 1998. The farm's 10-acre fruit tree orchard, planted beginning in 2005, produces Certified Organic Hass Avocados alongside a growing selection of fruits, flowers, and vegetables. In 2019, the next generation, Jesse Trace and his wife Amélie, joined the operation and helped expand its offerings. The farm grows late-harvest Hass avocados that stay on the tree for 14 to 20 months, developing a high fat and oil content that yields a notably creamy texture. Fruit is available for online purchase and wholesale, and the farm also welcomes visitors for guided orchard tours. Learn more on their About Page.
Traceland Organics holds Certified Organic status for its Hass avocados. The orchard is fertilized exclusively with composted manures, organic minerals, and wood chip mulches. Rather than synthetic pesticides, the farm uses honey bees for tree pollination and predator insects for biological pest control. The orchard is sited on a southwest-facing slope to maximize sun exposure, and is surrounded by plantings of native trees and shrubs, with irrigation focused on food-producing plants. The farm's location in the Cayucos canyon draws mountain water from the east while the Pacific Ocean moderates temperatures from the west, creating the microclimate suited to late-harvest subtropical fruit production.
