Family-owned pasture-raised pork farm with an on-site butchery and processing facility in Dixie, GA.
Thompson Farms is a family-owned and operated farm and meat processor founded by Raymond Thompson and his son Andrew. Today, Andrew and his sister Donna Storey run the operation. The farm raises pasture-raised pork, along with pasture-raised chicken, and processes everything through its federally inspected, on-site harvesting and processing facility. Products range from fresh cuts and smoked hams to sausage, bacon, and hot dogs, and are available through the on-farm shop, online ordering, and select Whole Foods Market locations. A related retail shop, Herd and Passel in Thomasville, GA, also carries Thompson Farms pork alongside other meats. Learn more on their About Page.
Thompson Farms raises its hogs on pasture from farrow to finish, with no confinement to crates or cages. A rotational grazing system allows hogs to forage on rye grass and millet throughout the year while pastures rest and regenerate. Hogs are fed a non-GMO, all-vegetarian diet and raised without antibiotics or steroids. The farm raises heritage and specialty breeds including Duroc, Berkshire, and Iberico. Pork is certified Non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project and carries Animal Welfare certification from Global Animal Partnership. The on-site processing facility allows the business to oversee every step from raising the animal to packaging the meat, including a team of butchers producing a wide range of fresh, smoked, and fully cooked items.
