Small-batch vanilla beans, vanilla extract, and single-origin chocolate grown on a family farm in Kauaʻi.
The Vanillery of Kaua'i is a 2 1/3-acre homestead farm on the east side of Kauaʻi, where owners Roland and Lisa have been growing vanilla since 2004 and selling production beans since 2017. The farm produces Vanilla planifolia whole beans in Grade A and Grade B, a Hawaiian vanilla extract made with 100% Kauaʻi-grown beans, and a single-origin dark chocolate bar grown entirely on the property under the Lokelani Ranch name. Peruvian Pompona vanilla pods are also available. Roland and Lisa both have a professional culinary background, and Lisa is an herbalist. Farm tours are offered, and products can be found at select local retailers on Kauaʻi as well as through the farm's online shop. Learn more on their About Page.
The Vanillery of Kaua'i uses only natural methods to grow its vanilla. No chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers are used anywhere on the property. The farm employs permaculture methods to make use of all available resources on the land, growing a diverse range of plants. Vanilla vines are grown on trellises and hand-pollinated by the farmers each season. Harvested beans are cured and aged on-site in a dedicated production facility before sale.
