Illinois farm raising 100% grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken using regenerative practices.
The Log Cabin Ranch is a Southern Illinois farm raising 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken. The beef is raised without antibiotics, mRNA, GMOs, corn, or soy. Pork comes from heritage breeds, Red Wattle and Tamworth, which are pastured year-round and spend their days grazing on acorns in the forest. Pigs and chickens are raised without antibiotics or added hormones and are fed a non-GMO ration. The farm sells through its on-farm store, regional pickup locations (including the Carbondale Farmers Market), and home delivery via UPS or local delivery trucks. Learn more on their About Page.
The Log Cabin Ranch uses regenerative grazing practices on pastures composed of grasses, legumes, and forbs. These pastures are never treated with Roundup, pesticides, or fungicides, and contain only non-GMO plants. Cattle are rotated to a new pasture several times a week, and up to several times a day, allowing each plant to recover and build organic matter. In addition to grass, cattle receive free-choice minerals sourced from Redmond Agriculture and Independent Salt Company, both mined from dried lake mineral deposits. Cattle are also given non-pasteurized apple cider vinegar as a natural probiotic to support digestion. Calves are not weaned until at least 10 months of age. Heritage-breed pigs (Red Wattle and Tamworth) are pastured year-round, foraging on acorns in the forest, and are raised without antibiotics, added hormones, or genetically modified feed.
