Pasture-raised beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, and eggs from a regenerative family farm.
Main Street Pastures is a family-owned farm in Saint Rose, Illinois, run by Chad and Jill Vonder Haar and their four children. The farm began with grain farming on 80 acres in 2010, then expanded into livestock starting in 2014. It now raises beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, and eggs on roughly 30 acres of pasture. Products are sold at the on-farm store, seasonal farmers markets, and through local retail and food hub partners. The farm store also carries locally grown products from other producers, including flours, oats, rice, and popcorn. Customers can place after-hours orders using a dedicated pick-up room at the farm store. Learn more on their About Page.
Main Street Pastures raises all its own animals on pasture, feeding them hormone-free, non-GMO grains it grows itself using regenerative methods. The farm lists its animals as regeneratively raised, non-GMO, hormone free, antibiotic free, humanely raised, glyphosate free, and vaccine free. Regenerative agriculture practices include no-till farming, cover cropping, long crop rotations, plant diversity, and adaptive grazing, all aimed at maintaining soil biology and reducing synthetic inputs. Animals are given outdoor access to roam freely on natural grass pastures. The farm grows the grains used in its own feed rations using these same regenerative principles.
