A Florida cattle ranch selling all-natural, grass-fed beef, pork, poultry, and eggs through a co-op model.
The Dam Ranch is a family-run ranch in Bradenton, Florida, operated by Steve and Kathy. The ranch raises cattle, hogs, poultry, and laying hens, selling beef, pork, poultry, and large brown eggs directly to customers. Purchases are made through a co-op structure in which members buy a share of a live animal, receiving their portion of all cuts once processing is complete. Beef is available in sections ranging from one-eighth to one-half of a steer. All orders are picked up by appointment at the ranch. The co-op model is designed to give families a direct alternative to grocery-store meat.
The Dam Ranch raises its cattle on an all grass-fed and grass-finished program. The ranch uses no steroids, implants, growth hormones, fly spray, or medications on its animals. All beef is processed at a USDA-inspected plant, then dry-aged for flavor and tenderness, typically for 14 to 21 days depending on the animal. After aging, cuts are double-wrapped and frozen for pickup. The ranch states that it eats the same meat it sells, raising animals the same way for its own family as it does for customers.
