Third-generation bison ranch offering grass-fed bison meat, guided hunts, and on-site butchering in North Dakota.
The Bison Ranch is a third-generation family ranch that has operated continuously since the 1920s, owned and run by members of the Krapp family. With over 35 years in the bison industry and more than 25 years as hunting outfitters, the ranch specializes in providing clients with bison meat sourced directly from animals born, raised, and harvested on the North Dakota prairie. Bison hunt packages target prime-eating bulls and heifers approximately 17 to 22 months old. The ranch also runs guided duck, coyote, and upland game hunts on thousands of acres of private land. Hunt packages include lodging at the on-site Bison Ranch Lodge, a five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom facility overlooking the prairie. Learn more on their About Page.
The Bison Ranch's herd is 100% grass-fed and all natural, raised with no grains, hormones, or antibiotic supplements of any kind. The bison are not confined to corrals or worked like conventional livestock; aside from perimeter fencing, occasional mineral salt, and supplemental grass-alfalfa hay during winter, the herd largely manages itself on native prairie grasses. Every step of the harvesting process, from skinning and dressing to hanging and butchering, is handled in the ranch's own state-approved custom exempt meat processing facility, which has been operating since 2009. The business describes its approach as sustainably raised and humanely harvested.
