Family-run farm and market selling farm-raised beef, pork, and poultry with a USDA butcher shop and country kitchen.
Stone Gardens Farm & Market is a family-run operation founded in 1998 by Fred and Stacia Monahan in Shelton, Connecticut. The farm grows 50 acres of vegetables annually and raises beef, pork, and poultry. Customers can purchase farm-raised meats, fresh eggs, seasonal produce, and prepared foods at the farm market in Huntington Center. The market also features a country kitchen with a hot and cold bar, a deli carrying Boar's Head products, and a broad selection of specialty and grocery items, including products from other local farms. A seasonal chicken CSA program lets customers pre-commit to farm-raised chickens over a multi-week pickup window. Catering and gift cards are also available. Learn more on their About Page.
Stone Gardens Farm raises its beef, pork, and poultry on the farm, and all three are antibiotic-free and growth-hormone-free. Meat is processed on-site in a USDA-approved cutting room by a USDA-certified butcher. Chickens are raised in barns, not overcrowded, and are bedded with kiln-dried sawdust twice daily; they are finished on GMO-free feed. For crop production, the farm uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM): spraying only when necessary and after all other measures have been tried, rotating crops yearly, adding compost and manure to fields each fall, and planting cover crops to minimize pesticide impact. Much of the farmland is leased from neighboring properties in Shelton.
