Shepherd Family Farm has been in operation for over 100 years, producing hay and farm-fresh poultry in Central Massachusetts. The farm raises Thanksgiving turkeys, fresh chicken, naturally raised hormone-free beef, and a seasonal unpasteurized apple cider. Turkeys are raised and processed entirely on the farm in a purpose-built facility, and are sold fresh with no injected additives, preservatives, or artificial flavorings. Hay is available in square bales, round bales, and straw, and the farm also offers custom lumber milling during winter months. Agricultural services including large-acreage mowing, field preparation, and soil improvement round out the operation.
Shepherd Family Farm feeds its turkeys a grain diet sourced locally from within Massachusetts. The birds are housed in spacious barns, and bay doors are opened when weather permits to give them access to sun and fresh air. Chicken is raised without hormones. Beef cattle are described as naturally raised, hormone-free, and grass-fed. Each turkey is processed on the farm in the farm's own slaughter facility.
