Organic sourdough bakery and deli serving seasonal breads, pastries, sandwiches, coffee, and natural wine.
Rye Goods is a woman-owned organic sourdough bakery, deli, and wine shop founded by pastry chef Sara Lezama in a garage in 2016. Its name comes from the bakery's 18-year-old all-rye sourdough culture, nicknamed Wynona Ryeder, which anchors every dough made in the kitchen. The menu is built around the seasons, with local fruits and vegetables shaping what appears on the counter at any given time. Offerings span sourdough breads, pastries, croissants, challah, bagels, and deli sandwiches, alongside specialty coffee and natural wine. Rye Goods also sells a line of ready-to-prepare items, including empanadas, quiche, pot pie, lasagna, and sourdough pizza dough. Learn more on their About Page.
Rye Goods sources its produce from a named network of California farms, including Sunny Cal Farms in Reedley, Weiser Family Farms in Tehachapi, The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano, Tamai Family Farms in Oxnard, and Valdivia Farms in Carlsbad. Grains come from Cairnspring Mills in Burlington, Washington; the Tehachapi Heritage Grain Project in Tehachapi, California; and Central Milling Organic in Logan, Utah. The bakery mills west coast heritage grains and leavens its doughs with wild yeast. It describes its ingredients as 100% locally grown and uses no preservatives.
