Round the Bend Farm

Round the Bend Farm uses permaculture, biodynamic, and soil remineralization methods. It uses no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. Soil is fed by farm-made animal and plant compost, naturally-derived rock minerals, green manure cover crops, and low-till or no-till preparation. It practices multicrop rotation, grows most plants from seed, and saves seed. Pest control relies on plant-health strategies, biodiversity, exclusion netting, and row cover; OMRI-approved sprays are a last resort. Livestock have full pasture access, and cattle rotate across the farm and adjoining conservation land. Pigs are raised outdoors year-round on pasture, non-GMO grain, hay, and food scraps. All meat is steroid-, hormone-, and antibiotic-free, processed at a USDA-certified slaughterhouse within fifteen miles. The farm has five solar arrays and uses local wood chip mulch from area arborists.
