Urban farm offering a CSA harvest share, free-range eggs, honey, and multi-grain bread on a 1.1-acre Wheat Ridge property.
Roost Farms is a family-run urban farm on 1.1 acres in Wheat Ridge, growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, and raising free-range hens for eggs. Founded in 2013 by Chris and Liz McCune and their four children, the farm started with a flock of chickens and grew into a full growing operation. Each season the farm produces around 30 individual vegetable crops spanning more than 75 varieties, plus fruit, seasonal flower bouquets, and a multi-grain bread baked on-farm from home-ground wheat berries. The farm's primary sales channel is a seasonal harvest share (CSA): members receive weekly boxes of produce, a monthly dozen eggs, a monthly loaf of bread, and weekly flower arrangements during the growing season. The farm also offers summer camp, on-farm stays, and an apprentice program. Learn more on their About Page.
Roost Farms describes its growing approach as natural, organic, and free of pesticides, GMOs, and harmful additives, with all produce grown on-site in Wheat Ridge. The front acreage is farmed by hand. Hens are free-range, with access to scratch and roam. The farm's multi-grain bread is made from wheat berries ground on-farm into fresh flour using ten types of grains and seeds, then baked on or just before weekly pickup. Honey is harvested in the fall from on-farm hives and is never heated; the farm describes it as raw and organic.
