CSA farm growing pesticide-free vegetables and fruits for Denver-area members since 2009.
Lora's Nourishing Produce is a CSA farm founded in 2009 by Lora Epps, a Colorado native who completed an 18-month internship at Berry Patch Farms in Brighton before launching her own operation. The farm offers Veggie Shares, Combo Shares (fruit and vegetables), and Winter Shares to members across the Denver metro area. Produce is delivered to multiple pick-up locations, with Lora personally handling deliveries to stay in direct contact with members. Where the farm's own crops don't cover the full range of offerings, Lora works with other local Colorado organic farmers to round out the variety. Members also receive weekly recipe ideas tied to that week's produce. A Friends and Family referral program lets existing members earn discounts on their share by bringing in new members. Lora's Nourishing Produce grows its vegetables and fruits without pesticides or herbicides. Soil health is central to the farm's approach and is managed through two documented methods: laboratory soil testing that measures both major and minor mineral content, with custom mineral amendments calculated by row square footage; and deep composting, which involves loosening the soil and laying a four-inch layer of organic plant matter compost on top without tilling, planting directly into the compost. A team member with a Master's degree in Horticulture from Colorado State University focuses on soil research and makes recommendations to improve the growing environment for fruit and vegetable crops.
