Certified organic vegetable farm offering CSA shares, a farm store, farmers markets, and pick-your-own produce.
Red Fire Farm is a certified organic farm founded by Ryan Voiland, who began farming as a middle schooler and purchased the Granby farmstead in 2001. Sarah Voiland joined in 2007 and now manages communications and a wide range of farm operations. The farm operates two properties: one in Granby and one in Montague, MA, together totaling over 160 acres of vegetables, fruit, and flowers. Members can join a CSA with seasonal share options spanning spring through deep winter, covering vegetables, fruit, flowers, eggs, mushrooms, cheese, coffee, and more. Produce is also sold at the Granby farm store, at farmers markets, and through a flexible Stand and Market Membership. Red Fire Farm holds USDA Organic Certification through Baystate Organic Certifiers, an accredited certifier under the USDA Organic Certification program. The farm does not use chemical fertilizers, chemical pesticides, or genetically modified plants. Instead, it relies on compost, crop rotation, and cover crops to maintain soil and crop health. The two-property operation allows more effective soil building and crop rotation than either piece of land could support individually. The Montague property, purchased in 2009, was transitioned to certified organic practices upon acquisition. Eggs available through the CSA come from Wingate Farm chickens rotated on fresh pastures and raised on certified organic grains. The farm also participates in SNAP and the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), and annually donates produce to food relief organizations in Western MA and the Boston area.
