Purple Porch Cooperative

Purple Porch Food Co-op uses a tiered purchasing standard when selecting products. Local is defined as within 60 miles; Midwest Regional as within 300 miles. Beyond geography, the co-op prioritizes Certified Organic and organically grown products, Fair Trade Certified goods, products made by fellow cooperatives, and items that are humanely raised or cruelty-free. Humanely raised means animals had outdoor access and were raised without growth hormones or unnecessary antibiotics. The bulk department carries over 100 items, most of which are Certified Organic and Fair Trade where applicable; customers are welcome to bring their own reusable containers. Produce comes from named local farms and includes organic options alongside conventional items based on seasonal availability. Local and organic meats are stocked, and the co-op carries products from cooperatively owned brands such as Organic Valley and Eden Foods.
