Multi-generational family farm selling pasture-raised meat, dry-aged beef, and farm-fresh eggs.
Powers Farm is a small, multi-generational family farm that raises beef steers, Mangalitsa cross hogs, and cage-free laying hens, selling its meat and eggs through an on-farm market, farmers markets, local grocery stores, and local restaurants. The farm offers dry-aged beef, pork, chicken, occasional lamb, and hand-collected eggs. Alongside its own products, the on-farm market carries locally sourced dairy products, maple syrup, honey, ice cream, tomatoes, and more. Beef is processed at Haass Family Butcher Shop, a USDA-inspected facility in Dover, Delaware, and dry-aged for a minimum of 21 days. Learn more on their About Page.
Beef cattle graze on pastures and are finished on a diet of hay forages supplemented with farm-grown corn, soybean meal, and a mineral pack. The cattle are never administered hormones or pre-medicated feeds; antibiotics are used only therapeutically if an animal falls ill, with strict adherence to withdrawal periods. Mangalitsa cross hogs are raised in open pens and fed farm-grown corn, soybean meal, and a mineral pack, with no hormones, antibiotics, or artificial additives. Cage-free chickens are raised in open-house systems and fed a scratch-made diet of non-GMO farm-grown corn, alfalfa, marigold petals, and a mineral pack. Eggs are described as all-natural and antibiotic-free.
